Local Attractions: Burgundy Books is located in the Village of East Haddam, Connecticut. Our village is beautiful and listed in 1000 Places to See Before You Die by Patricia Schultz.
Our bookstore and Annex are only a few walking steps up from the beautiful Connecticut River, the Historic Goodspeed Opera House and the Gelston House Restaurant. The area boasts the fine La Vita Gustosa Italian Restaurant, The Nathan Hale House, and Gillette's Castle.
Our Building: The bookstore is located on two levels. The street level features the children's room, two rooms of fiction and nonfiction selections and summer book signings on the balcony. The annex on the lower level features selected books, an art gallery and serves as another location for book signings and other events. There are also garden areas in which outdoor events are held.
PARKING: You can find parking in the lot behind the store or behind the Gelston House www.gelstonhouse.com or the Goodspeed Opera House. www.goodspeed.org Also use the Town Parking lot which is located across the street from the Gelston.
Our Event Listings: You can find many of our events at www.authorstrack.com /eventinct.html We also advertise at Culture Connect at Connecticut Public Radio, featuring great authors and great art.
Shopping on Line: Go to our online bookstore website: www.shop.burgundybook.net for a our books of special interest. Shopping on line is easy and you can order any title in print.
New Authors: If you would like to present your book at an author event, send us a copy of your book for our consideration to the address listed above. Or send an inquiry by E-mail. We are interested in new published authors.
Awards: At the end of the year, we present the Burgundy Books Author Award of Distinction. The deadline is November 30, 2008. The winner is announced on January 10, 2009 along with the cash prize amount.
Our Summer Book Clubs: Our book clubs are listed on this site. Members are then invited to send in their comments so conversations about the book can takes place with some comments noted on our website. Readers are invited to send in their book news. Each book selection is launched with the author's visit. Also as a book club member, you receive a discounts off of the book club selection. E-mail the store for more details.
